Learn More About the Medical Assistant–Scribe Program

Medical Assistant-Scribe Program

This is not a traditional, theory-heavy program. It’s a hands-on, career-focused training designed to meet the demands of today’s clinics, hospitals, and specialty practices.

Our combined Medical Assistant + Medical Scribe model gives students a competitive edge by training them in both clinical support and medical documentation, making them highly versatile and job-ready from day one.

Why Our Medical Assistant–Scribe Program Is Different

Not all Medical Assistant programs are the same. At Healthy Horizons Institute, our MA–Scribe Program is intentionally designed to reflect how healthcare actually works—fast-paced, patient-centered, and documentation-driven.

Here's what sets us apart:

Dual-Role Training

Most programs train students for a single role. We prepare our students to function as both Medical Assistants and Medical Scribes, giving them broader skills, greater flexibility, and a stronger advantage in the job market.

Real-World Clinic Focus

Our curriculum is built around real clinical workflows, not just textbooks. Students learn how medical offices truly operate—from patient intake and rooming to documentation, chart review, and care coordination.

Work-Study Opportunity

We offer work-study opportunities that allow eligible students to gain hands-on experience in real healthcare settings while enrolled. This provides valuable exposure to clinical environments, strengthens résumés, and helps students build confidence before graduation.

What students are saying

"The best decision I ever made! I’ve learned more from this program and the clinic than I could have ever imagined. Becoming a medical assistant was not on my agenda for this year but one doctors visit changed everything. Here’s my experience at HHI. I went for my first visit at Healthy Horizons Clinic here in El Paso and I saw their ad for the program while I was waiting to be called back and I didn’t think much of it. I get called back and one of the students was my scribe for the visit. Shortly after being in the room another person comes in to help the student (she had just started a couple weeks before) and everything was great. After my visit I had to get some blood work done so I went back to the waiting room and I saw the ad again. I decided to scan the QR code to get some information not sure if I actually wanted to do it. Not even 5 minutes later the same person who helped the student with my appointment came out and asked me if I had requested info on the school and explained everything to me. I didn’t really take much time to think about it and I enrolled and started two days later. I didn’t know what to expect going in but I met one of the teachers and got right to seeing patients. I saw diagnoses and medications and test I had never even heard of. Flash forward two weeks I’m doing everything on my own. I know what questions to ask, starting to put medications with diagnosis, understanding labs and imagining that go with the diagnosis. In the following months I learned stuff I never expected. July comes around and it’s the end of my program and time to take my test.  I took my exam at the end of July and passed and officially became a medical assistant! My learning wasn’t over there. I started full time at the clinic learning more and more every day. Flash forward to now. I do so much on a daily basis I never expected. could have never imagined one doctors visit would turn into the career I never knew I could love so much. I work with the best people. With all of this being said, if you’re in the El Paso area and want to get into the healthcare field I cannot recommend HHI enough".
